Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

There are many reasons to seek chiropractic care, and one main reason is chronic pain.  Many various conditions can lead to pain, one of these being sacroiliac joint dysfunction.

The sacroiliac joint provides the connection between the sacrum and the pelvis on the lower spine. Its purpose is to transmit the force of the upper body towards the legs and pelvis. This joint is not one that provides a great deal of motion, in fact it is very strong and stable.

Some people experience sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and it is not clear as to how and why this occurs. Some chiropractors believe that this dysfunction is due to the misalignment of the sacroiliac joint or a limitation in normal motion. Pain that occurs in this area typically results in pain on just one side, very low in the back or even in the buttocks.
