A Chiropractor in Vancouver WA Explains Inflammation

“Inflammation” is a common word among chiropractors, mainly because of how common it is and how it can affect your health. Everyone is talking about it, and it is sometimes referred to as the “secret killer.” The next series of blog posts will discuss inflammation and explain how it can cause pain.

As the body heals, inflammation naturally occurs. When we are injured, our bodies use inflammation as a healing process. It will also allow any damaged cells or tissues to be cleared out, making way for healthy white blood cells, proteins, and other components to move forward with the healing process. Acute inflammation is healthy and will likely last only a few days. Chronic inflammation on the other hand, is often a signal that the body is not healing correctly.

Allergic hypersensitivity, autoimmune illnesses, and inflammatory arthritides (such as rheumatoid arthritis) are often the result of chronic inflammation. Even scarier, chronic inflammation is being found to have a connection with more serious conditions, such as;

  • Atherosclerosis
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Cancer
  • Musculoskeletal degeneration
  • Diabetes
  • Aging
  • Obesity
