Upper Back and Neck Stretch – Video

Many people experience tightness in their necks from time to time. Depending on your profession or condition, you may experience this more often than others. Besides seeking a general chiropractor to help you with your ailments and taking over the counter pain relievers and muscle relaxers, there are some stretches that you can do from home.

Chiropractors at A Family and Sports Chiropractic Clinic in Vancouver, WA recommend a simple neck stretch for those suffering from recurrent neck stiffness and pain:

-To begin this stretch, turn your head to the left as far as it will go and hold it for 7-10 seconds. Next, turn your head to the right and again hold it for 7-10 seconds. Repeat 5 times, 3-5 times per day.

-The next stretch is to tilt your head to the left and hold it for 7-10 seconds, then tilt your head to the right and hold for 7-10 seconds. Again you should do 5 repetitions, 3-5 times per day.

-The third and final stretch is to turn your head diagonally down to the left for 7-10 seconds, then do the same with the right side. You should do 5 repetitions of this 3-5 times per day.
