When you first call our office, we will take your insurance information and call your provider for you to get a rundown of your benefits. During this time, we also encourage you to look through your insurance benefits and get a grasp of the conditions of your chiropractic coverage.
We do this because sometimes what they tell you and what they tell us is different. That way we can make sure that everyone is on the same page before chiropractic services begin.
Sometimes your insurance company will say you have chiropractic benefits, but you have a large deductible you have to meet before chiropractic services are covered. Sometimes they will cover a certain percentage until you meet a deductible. So you may not have full chiropractic visit benefits right away.
Do you need a referral?
In some cases, your insurance company will require you to have a referral from your general care physician before they will cover chiropractic services. If this is the case, simply discuss your pain management plan with your doctor at your next appointment and see if they would give you a referral to our clinic.
Do you have a copay or deductible to meet?
In many cases, your insurance plan will have a copay for chiropractic services. This amount is typically fairly inexpensive and you will pay it at each visit to our office. You also may have a deductible that you will need to meet in order for your insurance to kick in and begin covering your visits. If this is the case, you will end up paying for your visits out-of-pocket until your deductible is met. You also may have an “out-of-pocket maximum” on your insurance. Usually, once you meet your deductible, your insurance will cover a portion, and you will pay the remaining percentage. Only until your out-of-pocket max is met will your chiropractic visits be fully covered by your insurance company. Whatever the case may be, we can help you with understanding the actual benefits.
