Diagnosing Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

Many people experience pain on a daily basis. This pain can often lead to the use of chiropractic services.  Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is a condition that can leave many people unable to funtion in their daily lives. The sacroiliac joint is the connection between the sacrum and the pelvis. Its main purpose is to provide the legs and pelvis with the force of the upper body. The joint itself is very stable and does not lead to any motion.

The symptoms of this condition often fall into these categories:

  • It often affects only one side of the body, it can occur in both sides though.
  • Lower back pain
  • Pain that resonates in the thighs, sciatic nerve, or buttocks. The pain rarely radiates into the foot
  • It is most commonly found in women who are either young or middle aged.

The treatment for this condition is often nonsurgical. Chiropractors will focus on reducing the inflammation and pain in the area. The overall goal should be to restore normal motion. To read more about the symptoms and treatments of sacroiliac joint dysfunction, click here!
